Youth Cultural Event
on
Thursday, 15th August, 2024 at Devadiga Bhavan, Nerul.

Devadiga Sangha Mumbai (“DSM”) celebrated 78th Independence Day at Devadiga Centre, Dadar and Devadiga Bhavan, Nerul on Thursday, 15th August, 2024. As per the programme schedule on the said occasion, Youth Wing, DSM (“DYW”) was allotted a slot between 2.00pm to 4.00pm for a youth centric event known as “Youth Cultural Event” (“YCE”) under the leadership of Adv. Brijesh Nittekar, Chairman, DYW. YCE was initiated and managed by Mrs. Deeksha Devadiga & Ms. Tanvi Devadiga, both, Co-Heads, Cultural Division, Youth Core Team, DYW. YCE was systematically planned and executed i.e.
(1) Introduction of Youth Core Team,
(2) Announcement of the Official DSM’s Instagram Page,
(3) Unveiling of Youth Manifesto,
(4) Kids Fashion Show and
(5) Dance Performance, with the able assistance of Mr. Nithesh Devadiga, Jt. Secretary, Managing Committee, DSM, Ms. Nikita Gujaran, Chembur LCC, Ms. Raksha Devadiga, City LCC, Ms. Priya Devadiga, City LCC and Ms. Harshita Rao, Asalpha LCC.

YCE started post Lunch. As per our tradition before initiating any important event, we seek blessings from the Almighty. YCE commenced with Prayer to the Almighty offered by Ms. Kanyashri Devadiga, Youth Member, City Region LCC.

The prime objective of organising YCE was to encourage youth participation in DSM’s initiatives for Centenary Celebrations. Youth Members and kids belonging to various LCCs participated in YCE.

The entire event was hosted by Mrs. Deeksha Devadiga & Ms. Tanvi Devadiga. Immediately after prayer ceremony, Mrs. Deeksha Devadiga invited Adv. Brijesh S. Nittekar, on the dais. He welcomed Mr. Dharmapal Devadiga, Chairman, Centenary Celebration Committee, Mr. Pravin Narayan, President, Mr. Naresh Devadiga, Vice-President and Past Presidents – Mr. Ravi Devadiga, Mr. Vasu Devadiga, Mr. Hiriadka Mohandas and Mr. S. P. Karmaran, of DSM on the dias. Then, he explained in brief the reason behind preparing the “Youth Manifesto” and introduced the Youth Core Team comprising of four divisions viz. Youth Cultural Division, Co-headed by Mrs. Deeksha Devadiga & Ms. Tanvi Devadiga; Youth Sports Division, Co-headed by Mr. Vishal Devadiga & Mr. Abhijeet Devadiga; Youth Fund Mobilisation Division, Co-headed by Adv. Brijesh Nittekar & Mr. Harish Devadiga and Youth Promotion & Marketing Division, Co-headed by Ms. Priya Devadiga & Mr. Vinish Devadiga. He assured that every effort will be taken by the Youth Core Team in the ensuing Centenary Celebrations of DSM and concluded his speech by urging the youngsters to get involved in DSM’s initiatives for Centenary Celebrations, in a way that best suits them i.e. either by volunteering time or through generating funds or self-contribution or both and if unable to do the aforesaid then just by spreading the initiatives of DSM through word-of-mouth. Thereafter, the Youth Manifesto was unveiled by the Senior Leaders present on the dias.

Mr. Dharmapal Devadiga, Chairman, Centenary Celebration Committee, Mr. Pravin Narayan, President, Mr. Naresh Devadiga, Vice-President and Past Presidents – Mr. Ravi Devadiga, Mr. Vasu Devadiga, Mr. Hiriadka Mohandas and Mr. S. P. Karmaran, of DSM encouraged the Youth, in particular, the Youth Core Team with their inspiring message to organise more such events in the coming future.

Mr. Dharmapal Devadiga, Past-President, DSM and Chairman of Devadiga Sangha Mumbai Centenary Celebration Committee said that Parents nourish their kids, educate and bring them up. The children, after their education take up lucrative career in India and abroad, which is a fact, but, these children should not neglect their parents who are the root cause of their growth and progress. Commitment and involvement of the Youth in DSM’s initiatives will only strengthen the Community and the Nation in general, he said.

Mr. Pravin N. Devadiga, President, DSM, said that the world is on the cusp of huge change and more so in India. The Last decade saw a quantum leap of India in all fronts, be it economy, technology, infrastructure etc and a whole lot of spheres where we were not even considered relevant. From this evolution we have learnt that “Change is the only Constant”, said. He further said that sharp minds ever willing to learn, evolve and grow is the only way forward for us as a Society. Our community needs newer ideas, break away from old dogmas and development of leadership skills to guide our Institution to greater glory. Therefore, it would be fitness of things that out Youths get involved in the day-to-day activities of DSM. Having a positive attitude in giving the institution a new modern look, with newer and better ideas, closer cooperation and uplift DSM to a position everyone looks upto.

Mr. H. Mohandas, Past-President, DSM emphasized on the Centenary Celebrations of DSM, he said that DSM expects major Youth participation in Centenary Celebrations, it will be a great opportunity for youngsters to get acquainted with DSM and its activities, administration and resource mobilization etc. He further added that “The Sangha is in the process of change of track in Community welfare and to build up the image during 100th year. Youths should wholeheartedly join in the initiatives of DSM. The Centenary Celebrations shall be a grandeur event to remember for a long time”.

Mr. Naresh Devadiga, Vice-President, DSM said that our youths have a great chance to lead from the front and take the driver's seat. DSM is to create a sizable corpus fund for the benefit of our members, particularly for education, to empower our people and make them "Saksham" in which youth participation is must, he said. He added that “Let's accept the fact that our youth must come forward with common objectives and honesty; otherwise, our goals will remain mere dreams. However, DSM’s history shows that new generations have always shown love and dedication to our community” and appealed to the youths to join hands with the Managing Committee, to make DSM’s Centenary Celebrations memorable.

During the said occasion with a view to foster the spirit of patriotism amongst the members of DSM, in particular, youngster, Mr. Balachandra Devadiga, Chairman, City Region LCC, sung few patriotic songs. YCE was an amalgamation of patriotism, fun and celebration and all the participants were rewarded with gifts as a token of appreciation. YCE concluded with vote of thanks.

It would be relevant to make few references pertaining to behind-the-scenes effort taken by the members of DSM for a successful execution of YCE. Mr. Nithesh Devadiga, Jt. Secretary, DSM reached out to all the key members of the 10 LCCs to generate maximum youth participation for YCE. YCE was promoted by Ms. Priya Devadiga & Mr. Vinish Devadiga, via Posters and messages on various Devadiga Whatsapp groups. Stage arrangement, including, sound system and coordination with the participants was managed by Mr. Nithesh Devadiga, Ms. Nikita Gujaran, Ms. Raksha Devadiga, Ms. Priya Devadiga and Ms. Harshita Rao. YCE was beautifully captured by Mr. Prabhakar Devadiga, Chairman, Public Relation Activities, DSM. As a token of appreciation, the gifts given to all the participants was sponsored by Adv. Brijesh Nittekar.
