Devadiga Sangha Mumbai’s Cultural Division, Youth Core Team, Youth Wing organized Garba Night Event on Saturday, 19th October, 2024 at Devadiga Bhavan, Nerul.

   On 5th & 6th April, 2025, we will be celebrating Devadiga Sangha Mumbai’s (“DSM”) 100 yrs of selfless service to the Society and as a part of the Centenary Celebrations, the Youth Wing organised a Garba Night Event (“the said Event”) on 19th October, 2024 from 6.00 PM to 9.00 PM at Devadiga Bhavan, Nerul.

Under the leadership of Adv. Brijesh S. Nittekar, Chairman, Youth Wing, DSM, the said Event, was organized and managed by Mrs. Deeksha L. Devadiga and Ms. Tanvi D. Devadiga, Co-heads, Cultural Division, Youth Core Team, Youth Wing, DSM. The said Event was the brain-child of Mrs. Deeksha L. Devadiga and Ms. Tanvi D. Devadiga i.e. Venue setup, DJ, sound, music, lighting, Trophies, Bouquets’, Dinner etc were arranged by them.

As per our tradition before initiating any important event, we seek blessings from the Almighty and accordingly the said Event started with Lighting the Lamp and Prayer Ceremony. The Prayer to the Almighty was offered by Mr. Deekshith L. Devadiga, Advisor, Youth Wing, DSM

The objective behind organising Garba Night Event was manifold, (1) To celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of India, by showcasing the traditional Garba dance, music and festive spirit, (2) To honour the Hindu Goddess Durga, as Garba is performed as a form of devotion and respect towards her, (3) To keep alive the traditional Garba dance, music and rituals, passing them down to future generations while offering a platform for cultural expression, (4) To provide a lively and fun environment where people can enjoy traditional dance, dress in colourful attire, relish good food and socialize in a festive atmosphere and (5) To bring together members from various LCCs of DSM under one roof, in particular, Devadiga Youths and encourage them to participate in DSM’s initiatives for Centenary Celebrations.

The said Event was hosted by Adv. Brijesh S. Nittekar. He welcomed Mr. Pravin Narayan, President, DSM and other Managing Committee Members immediately after Prayer Ceremony. Thereafter, the Members of the Cultural Division, Youth Core Team felicitated all the Managing Committee members present with a floral bouquet as a token of love, respect and appreciation for sparing their valuable time and attending the said Event. After that all the Sponsors of the said Event were felicitated with a floral bouquet by Mr. Pravin Narayan, for their benevolent act.

Subsequently, the Garba celebrations commenced with enthusiasm and everyone joined in the traditional dance, rejoicing the vibrant spirit of the occasion non-stop until 9.00 PM.

For the said Event, Mr. Pravin Narayan, President, DSM, served as the Chief Guest and Mr. Pavan D. Devadiga, COO, SSIS Pvt. Ltd. and CA Sandesh Devadiga, were the Guests of Honour. It would be appropriate to mention that CA Sandesh Devadiga was unable to be present on the said occasion due to unforeseen circumstances. The presence of the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour brought immense value to the said Event.

In the said Event, there was an exciting Dance and Costume Competition judged by Ms. Manisha Shetty, Choreographer & Theatre Artist. The participants showcased amazing talent, creativity and traditional flair. The Best Dancer Award for females was won by Ms. Rakshita Sherigar, Chembur LCC and males was won by Mr. Sharan Sherigar, Dombivali LCC and Ms. Tanvi Sherigar, Thane LCC won the Best Costume Award for females and Mr. Divesh Devadiga, Dombivali LCC won for males.

The said Event was proudly sponsored by Devadiga Youths, showcasing their commitment to fostering growth and engagement within Devadiga Community. Mr. Pavan D. Devadiga, COO, SSIS Pvt. Ltd. was the Main Sponsor followed by our Valued Sponsors - Mr. Niranjan Anchan, Adv. Brijesh S. Nittekar, Mrs. Deeksha L. Devadiga, Mr. Chetan S. Devadiga, Mr. Vijay V. Devadiga, Mr. Harish R. Furthermore, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of more than 110 members, including, Managing Committee Members of DSM - Mr. Pravin Narayan, President, Mr. Ravi Devadiga, Immediate Past President, Mr. H. Mohandas, Past President, Mrs. Malathi Moily, Vice-President, Mr. Vishwanath Devadiga, Hon. Gen. Secretary, Adv. Prabhakar Devadiga, Jt. Secretary, Mr. Nithesh Devadiga, Jt. Secretary, Mr. Prabhakar Devadiga, Chairman, P.R. It would be relevant to put across few behind-the-scenes effort taken by youth members for successful execution of the said Event. Under the able guidance of Mr. Nithesh Devadiga, Jt. Secretary, DSM, the overall co-ordination with the members of various LCCs were done. The said Event was promoted by Ms. Megha Devadiga, Secretary, Youth Wing, DSM, Ms. Priya J. Devadiga and Mr. Vinish S. Devadiga, Co-heads, Promotion Division, Youth Core Team, Youth Wing, DSM. The funds generously contributed by the Sponsors for the said Event were managed with great care and efficiency by Mrs. Deeksha L. Devadiga & Ms. Tanvi D. Devadiga i.e. the contribution was thoughtfully utilised while maintaining full transparency and accountability. Additionally, we are happy to report that there are balance funds available, which will be used for future Youth Wing Cultural initiatives.

Last but not the least, thanks to the efforts of the organizing team and the cooperation of the members present, the said Event proceeded smoothly, ensuring a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone.
